This platform manages the official submissions to UNSCEAR's Global Surveys of Radiation Exposure. Guidance in completing the survey questionnaires are available in dedicated User Manuals:

For registered users there is additional workshop material available related to the public exposure survey.

1. Registration

To be able to access the protected area, it is necessary to register on this platform first. Please click the 'Register' button at the top right of the screen. Registration is open to all those responsible for providing data to UNSCEAR's Gobal Radiation Exposure Surveys. You are asked to register using a valid email address and details about your institution and profession. Also, you have to indicate the country for which you are providing data. Official submission of data is only allowed by a National Contact Person (NCP), who needs to be nominated to UNSCEAR via official channels. Furthermore, it is possible to register other persons (experts) to support their NCP. They don't need to be nominated but should provide their contact details and indicate their specialization.

If you have any questions in this regard, please contact us.

Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email.

2. User validation

The UNSCEAR secretariat will validate user information before providing access to the platform! This validation could take a few days as registration details may be checked by phone or email. The validation process includes assignment to the country and region that will be used to generate your country specific data templates.

Once the account is validated, you will receive an email with your personalized password.

3. Login

After you have successfully registered and received a valid password, you will be able to use the platform. Please login to the system by clicking the 'Login' button in the top right area of the screen. Once you have logged in, you will be redirected to the specific page for your country. On this page you can access your country's information and you will use this page for downloading and uploading the UNSCEAR templates (questionnaires). With the 'Update Profile' button at the top right of the page, you will be able to modify your personal information and to assign a new account password which is highly recommended.

4. Template download /upload

The UNSCEAR Global Surveys of Radiation Exposure uses questionnaires (Excel spreadsheets) for data collection; one for each discipline (RD, NM, RT, OE and PE). The first step is to 'Download' the data collection questionnaires from your country specific page. These files are protected and cannot be modified since they are to be used only for official submission. Information on how to fill out the questionnaires is contained in the comment fields and in the help section. You can submit the file(s) separately, however, only registered persons can do this by using the Media Upload function, selecting the data file and clicking the 'Upload' button. The submitted files will be checked and validated with regard to completeness, quality and plausibility. You will be informed about the submission status of your data by email and all information will be archived on your country specific page.

5. Data validation

If our scientific experts have any further questions related to the submitted data, they will ask you for clarification by email or via the discussion feature available on the your country specific page. You are then kindly requested to answer the raised questions using the same feature. The data files will be validated by the scientific experts after the data quality has been checked and /or all open questions related to the data submission have been clarified. You will be informed about the validation results by email and the information will be recorded on your country specific page.

The data will then be imported for further analysis into UNSCEAR's Radiation Exposure databases.

6. Data import

For data analysis, management and report generation this platform deploys a dedicated database. Once the collected data files are uploaded and validated, the data will be imported to this database.

All information will be recorded on your country specific page.

7. Data evaluation

An expert group will conduct a detailed analysis of the data, including a global collective dose estimate and the frequency of use of radiological procedures with breakdowns by procedure, age, sex, level of healthcare, region and country.

Once the data evaluation is finalized, all users of the online platform will be informed about the results.

All contributions will be acknowledged by UNSCEAR in the relevant report to the UN General Assembly.
